AUSTRALIA VISIT VISA DETAILS:

The Australia Visit Visa is used by visiting individuals, families and businesspersons to facilitate short travel and tourism to Australia. There are three major subtypes of this visa:

  • Tourist visitor: Someone visiting Australia for leisure and recreation or to meet friends and family. You can apply for this from outside or within Australia
  • Business visitor: For businesspersons making short business trips for business, negotiations or to attend events. You must apply for this from outside Australia
  • Sponsored family visitor- For family members outside Australia who are sponsored for a visit visa by an Australian citizen or permanent resident

Visitor visas of longer duration are issued to parents of Australian citizens and Permanent Residents.

Processing time:

  • Tourist visitor – 75% of applications: 7 months/90% of applications: 10 months
  • Business visitor – 75% of applications: 5 days/90% of applications: 11 days
  • Sponsored family visitor – 75% of applications: 5 months/90% of applications: 11 months

Processing time of visit visas are dependent on several factors:

  • You must have submitted all the required supporting documents when submitting your application
  • Your response time to requests for additional information
  • Time taken by the authorities to complete the required checks on the information in your application
  • Time taken to receive additional information pertaining to your health, character and national security
  • Decision to accept or refuse your visa application will be based on the information and documents you provide

It is advisable to make your visa application well in advance of your travel date and not make any travel arrangements till your visa is granted.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR AUSTRALIA VISITOR VISA

To apply for the Australia Visit Visa, applicants must:

  • Show that they have sufficient funds to cover their trip costs for the duration of their visit
  • Have no criminal record and must comply with all Australian laws

  • Graduate Post-Study Visa – For students who have competed for a bachelor’s degree or higher. This visa looks primary at your educational credentials and does not require your occupation to be listed on the Skilled Occupations List

Under both these visa types you can live and work anywhere in Australia with your family, the study in Australia and travel in and out of Australia as long as your visa is valid. The visa duration typically lasts between 18 months to 4 years.

AUSTRALIA SKILLED MIGRATION PROGRAM DETAILS

The Skilled Migration Program invites professionals whose profession is listed on the Skilled Occupations List to lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) in Skill select, which enables Australian immigration officials to evaluate your profile. There are varying subclasses under the Australia Skilled Migration Program and applicants must choose the one most appropriate for them. These subclasses are:

  • Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189): A points-based visa for applicants who have not been nominated by an employer, state, territory or family member.

The visa is for skilled experts and tradespeople who can be nominated by an Australian state or territory.

  • Skilled – Recognized Graduate Visa (subclass 476): With this visa, recent engineering graduates can work, live, or study in Australia for up to 18 months. Applicants should have completed an engineering course from a specific institution within the past 2 years. The applicant should be under 31 years of age.
  • Graduate Temporary (Subclass 485) Visa: A visa for migrant students who have completed at least 2 years of study in Australia in the last 6 months
  • Skilled – Nominated or Sponsored Provisional (Subclass 491) Visa: A points-based visa for applicants who are nominated by an Australian state or territory, or by a relative living in regional areas (i.e., except Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, rest all considered as regional cities or areas), to live and work in regional areas. The applicant can move between regional areas. It is a temporary visa valid for 5 years and can be converted to PR after working for 3 years with a minimum threshold salary of AUD53,900 p.a. Applications of 491 subclasses are eligible for priority processing.
